Session 7 Movers and Achievers
We were a little worse for wear last night after the INDO gold cup weekend and the balmy sunshine but still my joker juniors showed up in fine form. The Joker Juniors have come along way with accuracy so we started working on doubles shooting with varied success but we had a great laugh and we worked together to help each other add our scores. That's the aim for the juniors to get rid of the fear of maths, laugh together and be a team as we work it out. We did a a fun maths test and all the Joker Juniors got their questions right so I was very proud of them. Girl power ruled again as this weeks Joker Junior Highest hitter was Maisie O Shea. The we took a moment to hold the Irish Gold Cup and chat about when the youngest members of the academy will be winning their own Trophies and cups. Well done to Darragh Byrne and Ruairi Power my MVP Joker Juniors this week.
Then came the older youths and it is safe to say we had some disappointed deflated feelings after the weekend but that's the part of darts people forget unlike any other sport there is no where to hide you are alone on the oche when game on is called. It's also not a bad thing to be disappointed after a loss that's what makes winners, it's that feeling that kicks you on to want better for yourself. The fact you have the drive to come right back and get right back on the board to fix where you went wrong shows a lot. So we simply started at the start, I had recorded everyone's averages from the weekend and gone through the game details of all the academy members present. I don't allow the academy members throw for 180's (unless its in game play) why? Well that question was answered at the weekend when everyone had 0% recorded on the 180 count. 100% power scoring can win games but right now everyone of you where steadily scoring with one treble (roughly) per visit and had shots at doubles to win the game but then missed them. Anything from 80 down should be a given so last night we worked on the doubles 50 to 60. The stats on our doubles when we used the Target omni training doubles game to get our baseline average was not pretty but we will watch those averages climb and we will be competitive. I'm not picking a best improver this week because everyone put savage work into understanding what went wrong, dusted themselves off and were back here with determination. It's not the mistakes we make it's what we do next.
