Session 6 Movers and Achievers
This week we had a lot of laughs matching the Target Dart Players to their lost shirt by working out the correct score that matched the shirt to the player. The Juniors love talking about the players and it redirects any anxiety around doing the math sums so we find this is a huge success whilst we work on numeracy and then accuracy on the board aiming for the big number target and hitting it. This weeks MVP's were Ruairi Power and Jay Lynch who showed great maths skills in the game. We had our first treble 20 too and we celebrated together like Gerwan Price GWAAAAAN !! The Joker's Highest Hitter this week was Jake Long recovering well from an opening score of 5 to cling a 100 score and from there he motored on to win the game. Maisie was as always representing the girls and she came a close second in the highest hitter just 2 points behind Jake. My littlest Joker Junior Rian was smashing it too showing us all where the numbers where and showing good accuracy. Well done everyone and a good Luck to Maisie O Shea and Jake Long who are playing in the INDO Gold Cup this weekend.
Then as always came our older youth's. This week as the majority of us were travelling to play in the INDO Gold Cup and with Brooke Warren Doyle heading to the Girls series in Coventry we worked on doubles and 501 game play to prepare, Allen Moore was statistically the most consistent going from 88% on his double routine last Monday session 5 to 100% on the same routine Thursday session 6. Whilst repetition of these routines can be hard if you make something the norm and you confidently know you can finish a double that you do repetitively in the academy over and over and over again you will do it in competition with confidence. Jamie Cunnigham also showed steady consistency on the doubles routines recording a steady 55% finish rate that translated to a 100% on his doubles in his 501 game giving him an overall game average of 65% and the win. Benjamin Lyons also showed a consistent 77% doubles average over the same routine for 2 sessions. Dillion Fitzmaurice recorded our highest average of the night with a 66.67% average in his 501 game play. Big thanks to Target for our new Omni that helped greatly analysing the statistic's for the 501 games quickly and efficiently but then it was back to the white boards and markers to sharpen our counting.
The majority of the academy are heading the INDO Gold Cup and John will be there from 11.00 to warm up with members for the Youth's games which start at 13.30 and will be around for advice (if you want) throughout the games. Best of Luck everyone and remember enjoy it.
"When talent fails hard work takes over" and we have begun to put the work in but we have a lot more to do but the progress is there and you are all capable of great things.
