Joker Darts Academy, Target Darts and Headway Brain Injury Clinic launch inclusive darts service.

Academy director and head coach John O Shea today launches the amazing ten week course in the Headway Brain Injury support and services clinic here in Cork. Working closely with the amazing Bob and Kevin at the clinic, who made it so simple to bring the darts to the Headway clinic environment from our side. We have no doubt they have done massive work behind the scenes and moved mountains to facilitate it. Darts can work on mechanical movement, repetitive movements, balance and other physical areas. It also offers a social aspect and an outlet to those who enjoy darts. Darts is one of the few sports that can be closely adapted to suit any need. Dart boards can be lowered for wheel chair users, oche lines can be moved and it is made accessible to everyone instantly.  The Target omni also is in use to help with the counting and flow of the match play. 

Once Target Darts heard what their sponsored player and team member John O Shea had in motion with the clinic they without hesitation threw their full unwavering support behind the course. Gary, James and the wonderful Lucy from Target Darts quickly put together a package of everything the clinic would need, dart boards, tripod stands to lower the board and a laser oche to ensure every need was met. All equipment needs were instantly met. 

The Headway clinic works tirelessly to meet the needs of its clients and the academy is more then happy to be able to help. It has been an honor to be asked to run this course and after years of playing darts personally John has possibly found no greater joy than in bringing it home to community with the youths and now being able to showcase its benefits in a clinic setting. 

This whole incentive was inspired by two amazing men John has met and been in awe of as they progressed, improved their dart skills and more importantly explained patiently to John what darts meant to them. These amazing and wonderfully resilient and dedicated men are Aaron McMahon and Jack Ryan each with different paths but who soar through darts.
