Joker Academy Movers and Achievers
Having taken a small break for the Joker to visit the Aliens in area 51 the academy was back in action with a bang Thursday as we had all gotten our academy shirts. Everyone looked fantastic in the shirts and it was really a milestone in the academy. We are now busy planning our offical opening night where we can all celebrate with a bit of fun with family and friends.
The Joker Juniors were of course the first group to pull on the Joker jerseys and it was fantastic to see the excitement as for some of them this will always be their very first personal dart shirt. The excitement of course made for some giddy darts but we all had great fun and that is always the goal. The Joker Juniors have grown in the past week and we now have an additional 3 new players which is amazing and its fantastic seeing the academy still growing. Joey O Sullivan was the Joker's highest hitter holding onto the title for two weeks running and becoming the one to chase but this was following a very dramatic 9 dart shoot out Modus style. Ruairi Power, Maisie O Shea and Jake Long all have upped their games in chase of Joey now and we will see who is the highest hitter this week. My littlest Joker Rian is pinging those bulls. The newest Joker Junior to our pack Kaylum fit in seamlessly showing his passion for the game I have no doubt he will be a weekly highest hitter in no time.
The older youths played 501 in preparation for the many events that were on over the weekend. Sean Hutchinson had a great weekend making it to the quarter finals in the Mid-West Dart Organisation Summer series event 1 and then followed that up with a bronze medal and a qualification spot from the IDSL Munster qualifier for the Irish finals. Allen Moore also secured a qualification spot in the Munster qualifier for the Irish finals finishing runner up in the event in the Munster Arms. Well done to both academy members.
We also had other academy members in action over the weekend and it is great to see everyone out getting match practice.
Bailey Frahill Jones and Jake O Shea travelled to Clonmel to part take in the ADC event in the Talbot Hotel and both played well in places, gaining some really good match practice from the ADC structure and the round robin groups. The one thing no one can practice is match practice so it is all valuable experience.
The academy would like to extend its well wishes and wish a speedy recovery to Ewan as he recovers from a sports injury. Darts is way safer lad (most of the time)
